ConvertOwl

Terms of Use

Last updated: July 15, 2026

Acceptance

By using ConvertOwl (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

What the Service is

ConvertOwl provides free, browser-based tools for converting and manipulating files (images, audio, video, PDFs, archives, and text). All processing happens inside your browser. We do not receive, store, or process your files on any server.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Convert, process, or distribute files that infringe third-party intellectual property rights.
  • Process illegal content of any kind.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate the Service in a way that damages its availability for other users.
  • Circumvent any security or rate-limiting measures we implement.

Intellectual property

You retain full ownership of any files you process using the Service. We do not acquire any rights to your content. The ConvertOwl website, code, and branding are owned by us and may not be copied or redistributed without permission.

No warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

In particular, we do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
  • Conversion output will be pixel-perfect or lossless (browser-based codecs have limitations).
  • The Service will be available in your jurisdiction.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to zero, as the Service is provided free of charge.

Advertising

The Service is funded by display advertising. Ad content is controlled by third-party ad networks. We are not responsible for the content of ads displayed.

Third-party code and libraries

The Service uses open-source libraries (FFmpeg, pdf-lib, fflate, and others) delivered via CDN. Their respective licenses apply to those components.

Changes to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We may also update these terms at any time — the “Last updated” date will reflect changes. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we are incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
