Why would I convert HEIC to PNG instead of JPG?

PNG uses lossless compression — every pixel is identical to the source. Choose PNG when you're going to edit the image further (e.g., in Photoshop or Figma), when you need clean edges for logos or UI screenshots, or when you're archiving irreplaceable photos without any generational quality loss.

Will PNG files be much larger than HEIC?

Yes, often 3–6× larger. HEIC is one of the most efficient lossy formats. A 3 MB HEIC file might produce a 15–18 MB PNG. If file size matters more than lossless quality, convert to JPG instead — it'll be much smaller.

Does HEIC support transparency? Will it carry over to PNG?

Standard iPhone photos don't use transparency. However, HEIC does support an alpha channel in its specification. If your HEIC file contains transparency (uncommon in camera photos, more common in graphics), our converter will preserve it in the PNG output.

What HEIC variants are supported?
