Is my Word document uploaded to a server?
No. The .docx is read, laid out and written to PDF by JavaScript running in your browser tab, and the file never leaves your device. Open your browser's network panel while converting and you will see no request carrying it. Nothing is stored, so there is nothing to delete afterwards.
What is the difference between Convert to PDF and Print or save as PDF?
Convert to PDF saves each page as a high-resolution image: one click, and it looks the same everywhere, but the text cannot be selected or searched. Print or save as PDF uses your browser's own PDF writer, which keeps real text you can copy, search and zoom into, at the cost of one extra dialog.
Will the PDF look exactly like the document in Word?
Usually very close, and the preview shows you before you convert. Text, styles, headings, lists, tables, images, headers and footers all come through. Differences appear where your browser lacks a font the document uses, such as Calibri on a Mac without Office, since a similar font is substituted and lines can wrap slightly differently.
Why does my PDF have a different number of pages than Word?
Pages break where Word recorded them when the file was last saved, so a document saved by Word normally keeps its page count. Files exported from other apps often carry no page-break information; then pages are cut at paragraph and table-row boundaries, and a substituted font can shift where they fall.
Can I convert an old .doc file or a password-protected document?
Not directly. The older binary .doc format and password-protected documents cannot be read in the browser, and the tool tells you which one it found. Open the file in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice, save it as an unprotected .docx, then convert that copy.
How large will the PDF be?
At Standard quality a page of text typically comes to 150 to 300 KB, so a ten-page report lands around 2 to 3 MB. High quality is two to three times that. If you need the smallest possible file with real text, use Print or save as PDF, or run the result through Compress PDF.
