How to use this tool

  1. Enter the final URL and paths

The display URL Google shows is your domain plus the two optional path fields, joined with a chevron. Each path is capped at 15 characters and the counter enforces it.

  2. Write up to three headlines

Each headline is capped at 30 characters. Go over and Google rejects the asset outright, which is why the counter says "rejected" rather than "truncated" on these fields.

  3. Add one or two descriptions

Descriptions are capped at 90 characters each. Write the second one knowing that mobile often shows only the first, so it cannot carry anything essential.

  4. Compare mobile and desktop

Switch tabs. Desktop shows three headlines and both descriptions; mobile usually shows two headlines and one description. If your offer only makes sense with all three headlines, it does not survive mobile.

  5. Export the mockup

Download a 2x PNG or copy it to the clipboard to attach to a brief, a client approval or a change request.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the character limits for a Google search ad?

Headlines are capped at 30 characters each, descriptions at 90 characters each, and each of the two display paths at 15. These are hard limits: Google rejects an asset that exceeds them rather than shortening it, which is why this tool flags them as rejections.

Why does the mobile preview show fewer headlines?

Responsive search ads assemble from whichever assets fit the space. A desktop result usually has room for three headlines and two descriptions; a phone often shows two and one. If your value proposition only lands with all three headlines, most of your traffic never sees it.

Do I need a Google Ads account?

No. Google's own preview lives inside the ad editor and needs an account, a campaign and a saved draft. This page needs none of that, which makes it useful for writing copy in a document, a brief or a pitch before anything is built.

Is the preview an exact match for a live SERP?

It matches the layout, the limits and the assembly rules, which is what copy decisions depend on. It does not predict which of your assets Google will choose, or which extensions and sitelinks will show, because those are decided by the auction at query time.

Does anything I type get sent anywhere?

No. Every field stays in your browser. There is no server call, no draft saved to an account, and no logging of the copy you are testing, so it is safe to draft an unannounced offer or a competitive claim in here.
